What is CAP?

WHAT IS CIVIL AIR PATROL

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a Congressionally chartered, federally supported non-profit corporation that serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force (USAF). CAP is a volunteer organization with an aviation-minded membership that includes people from all backgrounds, lifestyles, and occupations.

MISSIONS OF CIVIL AIR PATROL

EMERGENCY SERVICES

Under this mission, Civil Air Patrol preforms search and rescue missions on both air and ground, and disaster relief operations. In addition to this, CAP may work alongside with various agencies, such as local police, American Red Cross, and National Guard.

AEROSPACE EDUCATION

Whether it is learning the fundamentals of flight, to outer space exploration, to Cyber Space navigation and everything in between, Civil Air Patrol has it all. CAP doesn't stop at educating their members, but provides opportunities for their lessons to be put into practice.

CADET PROGRAMS

Cadet Programs are made up of participating teenage youth, called Cadets, with the focus on developing character, confidence, and leadership skills. A wide variety of activities are available to Cadets, such as learning to fly, training with Air force Pararescue and Navy SEALS, learning computer security and much more.

MEMBERS IN CIVIL AIR PATROL

Membership in the organization consists of cadets ranging from 12 to just under 21 years of age, and senior members 18 years of age and up. Members have an organization based on the United State Air Force Structure, and wear uniforms while on duty.
